Rucyca, flower flower / No. 19 "Sweet memory, melt"

"You have a bit of a special ability, don't you?"

My acquaintance said that.

Apparently, "she can intentionally forget memories she wants to erase."

What a convenient ability.

However, after a moment's thought, I wondered, don't all humans possess such a function? When I asked her, it seemed to be a little different from that.

She once had a period when she "wanted to erase this entire situation."

To put it simply and briefly—

She "pretended to have amnesia due to certain circumstances."

And what happened then was this:

The attitudes of those around her completely changed, and all the "inconvenient things" that had been built up through their connections were reset as if they had never happened.

She apparently thought at the time:

"Oh... all the inconveniences, dissatisfactions, and troubles I've carried until now were nothing more than this. It's so easy to make the 'past' disappear."

From there, I didn't clearly hear how she came to be able to "forget memories she wants to erase" on a daily basis. (I might have forgotten those memories myself, as the alcohol was flowing.)

Well, it's probably that such an experience led her to be able to mind-control herself into "forgetting memories she wants to erase."

Indeed, she is a person who possesses an aura of facing herself squarely, sticking to her convictions, and going her own way, no matter what others say.

So, this "special ability" might be a part of that.

I wish I had that.

Unfortunately, I don't possess such a convenient ability, so

I have an endless list of past memories I want to erase: everything from that period when I wore a dark smile, childhood mistakes, big failures caused by wrong choices, and "memories I'll take to my grave."

If all these "bitter memories" could disappear,

I wouldn't mind losing all the "sweet memories" that are at the opposite pole.

I might even want to keep only "normal" and melt away all those sweet memories along with it.

Thinking such thoughts, the memory of that night when we drank together for the first time in several years.
