This painting was created for the header of the Fukudebi 2026 version.
While Debby is known for her familiar chubby cheeks, this is the first humanized version and its first public reveal.

It features five Debbies, embodying good fortune, luck, love luck, victory luck, and fun luck.

It was decided early on that this piece would be for Fukudebi, so the decision to create a new header image for it was very smooth.
Although the preliminary sketch was completed early, the exact imagery remained undefined until the last minute, which in turn delayed the acquisition of art supplies.

By the time the art supplies were decided, it was exactly New Year's, and the art store I wanted to use was closed, so I went there right after the new year.
Fortunately, one canvas of a size close to what I wanted was left, so I made it just in time.

This piece was actually created as a traditional illustration.
I deliberately wanted an analog feel, so I chose this panel for its firm drawing surface, but the base surface is paper-like.
Therefore, if you look closely, you can feel the warm texture characteristic of paper.

While I know many people prefer a smooth finish for skin, for this piece, I deliberately built up the skin areas from the underpainting stage to create texture.

It took much longer than expected.
Given the style and the fact that it's a technique I don't usually use in traditional art, this project became a valuable period of introspection for me.
I also used several new art materials, making it a very instructive work for me.

It reminds me of some difficulties, but as an auspicious Debby painting, it's considered a good luck charm-themed, uplifting piece.

This Debby is genderless.
